Anthony Wolfe is coasting through the last posting of his long career as Manager of the MonJaro mining operations on the remote planet of Shadetree. He’s counting the days until his retirement, and then an unlikely explosion kills one of his engineers, and nothing stacks square.

His search for answers puts him in the crosshairs of corporate management. They waste no time replacing the dead man and ordering Wolfe to back off, but when the new engineer shows up with a ship full of high-tech equipment and an agenda that has nothing to do with mining, he just can’t let it go.

Now, he has a choice: Turn a blind eye, or keep looking for answers and risk everything. But Wolfe has never been one to walk away. As he bores toward the truth, he uncovers a dangerous secret that someone is willing to kill to protect.
